Real Piercing Jewelry involves strict design standards using materials approved and tested for use in the human body. These metals include ASTM standardized implant grade* steel, titanium, and niobium as well as appropriate gold alloys and platinum. Piercing jewelry is not regulated like medical devices or other products used in your body. This means that most piercing jewelry on the market today is not tested or regulated in any way. Black Sun Studio chooses to promote only the safest materials approved by Health Canada and the FDA* to achieve the best possible results with any piercing.

We set our own standards and demand the best from our suppliers, so you are always assured of the highest quality.

Basic Standards: While impossible to discuss all design and material issues here, some very basic and essential standards apply to 99% of jewelry we sell. While we think of the following points as simple common sense, many producers and retailers of piercing jewelry do not adhere to these basics:

• INTERNAL THREADING in all threaded jewelry (barbells, curved bbls, surface bars, etc.) • NO GLUE used in making jewelry like gemstone settings or combined metal items. • NO HIGH REACTIVITY materials like silver or pewter even for externally worn jewelry components. • FREE INSTALLATION and SIZING by a qualified piercer with any jewelry purchase. • MADE FOR DURABILITY, steel threading in softer material items such as gold or plastics, solid balls and posts on all gold and most other items, bezel set gemstones... our jewelry is built to last. • PRECIOUS GEMS, semi-precious stones, and laboratory-created gems are our specialty. Our gems are never plastic and never glued! We provide certification on request for all precious stones and guarantee our settings.
