BLACK SUN has consistently set the highest standard in Montreal, and possibly Canada, throughout our 15 years in the business. Even though we have closed, we would like to continue to educate the public and encourage the informed, careful selection of safe body art practitioners. There is no real regulation of piercing or other body art practices in Canada, and the large majority (about 95%) of piercing shops in Montreal are putting their clients health at risk!  This is just a fact. I no longer have anything to gain commercially by warning the public about the dangers, I only wish to pass on my extensive knowledge of the industry to benefit everyone.  It is your job as a paying consumer to DEMAND safe implant grade piercing jewelry, DEMAND PROOF that your piercer is trained and qualified to handle blood, and DEMAND CREDENTIALS and references proving that your piercer is a real, qualified, credible and accessible piercer!  Use our website, which will remain online, to get informed and protect yourself.

What We Don't Do…
…is almost as important as what we do do.

We do not use piercing guns for any piercing. We believe piercing guns pose a serious health risk even when used on ear lobes, not to mention the extra pain and longer healing process. Find out more about piercing guns at this informative link.

We do not offer tattooing. Tattooing and piercing have little to do with each other, so why do so many shops offer both services? Our main concern is your safety and comfort. Tattooing is a much riskier practice as it creates more blood and plasma released over a prolonged procedure time and includes aerosolized (airborne) blood/plasma ("microspray"). The possibility of disease transmission is far greater with tattooing than with piercing and this has led the Association of Professional Piercers to forbid its members from practicing piercing in the same workspace as tattooing.

We do not sell clothing, novelties, drug paraphernalia, or other merchandise not related to piercing. Just like your dentist, doctor, acupuncturist or massage therapist, we are a specialized professional service provider - not a store.
